Many congratulations to Stephen Wilson of Pontesbury 1st XI, who is the SCCL September Performance of the month winner.
Awards Chairman, Matt Porter stated "Stephen understandably was the unanimous winner amongst the awards sub committee, none of us can ever recall seeing figures that good in the SCCL."
In the final Performance of the Month award for 2026, Stephen's performance was quite truly outstanding and could not be topped!
On Saturday the 5th of September, Pontesbury CC were playing at home against Hodnet and Peplow 1st XI in Division 5. The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl, and Pontesbury openers had a great day at the office, where Owen Morris 194* and Matt Hartshorn 101* helped Pontesbury scored 311/0 from their 40 overs! Owen was certainly in the running for performance of the day and the month, however Stephen Wilson had other ideas!
Stephen proceeded to bowl 5 overs, 5 maidens and took 8 for 0, to dismiss Hodnet and Peplow for 21ao!
