2026 SCCL Premier Division Team of the Year - as selected by Jamie Dowley
1 - Dan Vaughan * (Wellington CC)
The solid right hander led his side from the front, his 739 league runs @ 39 means he is the only player to retain his 2025 place, and he captains this side once again.
2 - Tom Whitney (Quatt CC)
Mr Consistent. 790 runs at 41.5 is his best season since his Worfield days and he regains his place from2024
3 - Abhishek Reddy (os) (Wem CC)
The toughest decision of all and Ashish and Kuldeep can both feel hard done by. But having seen 4 of Reddy’s 6 centuries live, his average of 82 in the league and 102 overall, I don’t believe the league has ever had a better batsman this century. He also chipped in with 27 wickets
4 - Amritpal Singh (St Georges CC)
The big man is a very classy player and his transfer from Old Wulfrunians in June made a massive impact with 647 runs @ 92 to top the league averages in the division.
5 - Todd Henderson (Quatt CC)
The much travelled all rounder shone in his first year in the SCCL, 550 runs @ 45 and 30 wickets at under 20 nailed down a place in this team, Quatt will be hoping for even more in 2027
6 - David Laird (Wellington CC)
A century on debut for his new club, but it was his bowling that really excelled, 32 wickets @ 15 and two match winning spells against top rivals, the naturally talented sportsman easily justifies his selection here.
7 - Morgan Ward + (Wellington CC)
24 victims and a batting average over 40 make him the youngest ever member of the Team of the Year. This was a tough call, but his explosive batting, and high energy keeping earn him the place over the likes of Connor Cheshire, Harry Chandler and Charitha . The sky is the limit particularly in short format cricket for the 17 year old
8 - James Lunn (Quatt CC)
In his first year at the helm for his club, 44 wickets at 10 meant the swing bowler was first pick in the pace department. He may have under bowled himself at times but when he did he was mightily effective. Useful with the bat too.
9 - Sam Griffiths (Shelton CC)
40 wickets @16.5 means the experienced seamer takes the place of his opening partner Simon Jones who misses out for the first time in 3 year
10 - Shabbir Khan (Whitchurch CC)
The magic man led the wicket charts in the division, his 53 wickets of controlled leg spin only cost him 12 runs apiece, an outstanding year for the veteran. And what a lovely chap he is too
11 - Shah Faiz (St Georges CC)
The tall fast bowler in his 2nd season at Church Rd, took 41 wickets @14.5 and slots in at 11.
Reserves
Mike Robinson (Whitchurch CC) Just under 700 runs at 33 make the classy left hander back up opener here
Jason Oakes (Wellington CC) 613 runs @ 47 is another solid season and he is the reserve middle order player.
Luke Thornton (Allscott Heath CC) 422 runs @ 30 and 27 wickets @ 20, he just misses out on one of the 2 allrounder slots but he had a super season, and you feel there is plenty more to come.
Ralph Davies (Wem CC) The 15-year-old showed what a special talent he is with 39 wickets @ 18 but for the 2nd year he just misses out
Babar Khan (St Georges CC) The experienced leg spinner took 36 wickets @ 13 and never went for many runs but he must play 2nd fiddle to Shabbir here.
