New SCCL League Administrator

The Shropshire County Cricket League (SCCL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Liam O’Neill (left in the picture) as its first official League Administrator, marking a significant step forward in the League’s continued development.

This newly formalised role reflects the League’s commitment to strengthening its administrative structure, supporting clubs, and ensuring the efficient running of competitions across Shropshire. Liam has already been heavily involved in the League’s operations, and this appointment recognises both his contribution and the importance of the role moving forward.

Chairman Howard Sanders (right in the pictured) welcomed the appointment:

“We are delighted to formally appoint Liam as the League’s first official Administrator. Over the past period, Liam has demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism, and attention to detail in supporting the League and its clubs. This appointment not only recognises his efforts but also underlines our ambition to continue improving how the League operates for the benefit of all member clubs.”

Liam O’Neill also commented on his appointment:

“I’m honoured to be formally appointed as the first SCCL League Administrator. The SCCL plays a vital role in all areas of cricket across the county, and I’m committed to continuing to support our clubs, improve processes, and help the League move forward in a positive and professional manner.”

The creation of the official League Administrator position represents an important milestone for the SCCL, reinforcing its focus on strong governance, transparency, and ongoing development within recreational cricket.

Liam will also continue with his role as SCCL Treasurer.

So, what does this mean for your club?

Previously most of your dialogue with the league was through League Secretary, Matt Porter. However, Liam’s new official role, means that he will now take on the day to day correspondence with all clubs, some of the many things he will deal with are listed below.

-General questions
-Play Cricket related matters
-Financial affairs
-Player registrations
-Disciplinary Officer – First point of contact for any disciplinary matters.
-Results sheets
-Liaising with SCB
-Liaising with the BDPCL and other West Midlands County Feeder Leagues
-Liaising with SACO

Matt Porter, as league secretary will now focus on the following

-Correspondence regarding formal meetings (AGM/Captains meeting/EGM/Constitutional updates)
-Website Administration www.shropshirecricketleague.co.uk
-Awards collation and presentation
-Admin for the SCCL Management committee
-Assisting Liam where required

We hope that clears things up for all clubs, please can you make sure that your captains are fully aware of the changes, they will also be remined at the forthcoming league captains meeting on Tuesday 14/04.
