Henshalls SCCL Player of the Month for July 2019

The Henshalls SCCL player of the month is Sam Griffiths from Shelton CC

Chosen from a shortlist which also contained Will Cook (Worfield), Connor Glendinning (Chelmarsh) and Harry Cooke (Shrewsbury) Griffiths and his 16 wickets at an average of 3 was the clear winner.

Chairman of the Awards Panel, Jamie Dowley commented "it was a strong shortlist containing some of  of the best young cricketers in the SCCL, with Will Cook and Connor Glendinning both hitting form with the bat, and young Harry Cooke of Shrewsbury 2nds converting his County Under 15  form to the adult game, but in the end Sam's continued outstanding performances with the ball in 2019 meant he was a unanimous winner amongst the awards sub committee."

With Simon Jones he has formed a lethal partnership in Division One, and they look certain to feature heavily in the end of season promotion battle.

Dowley went onto comment "My fellow sub-committee member and Division one umpire William Clarke, reckons Griffiths is bowling better and faster than ever, and with Shropshire seam bowling reserves looking fairly weak at present, it seems baffling to me that the county selectors are seemingly once again only picking from the Birmingham League. It really is a short sighted and a self defeating policy, given the amount of quality in the SCCL."

Sam will be presented with his award later in the season
