2018 Season Cricket Balls

Cricket Balls for the 2018 Season

The SCCL  Management Committee has agreed that clubs should again be offered a carry forward/buy back facility on cricket balls for the 2018 season subject to you notifying me of the the number of cricket balls your club wishes to carry forward from 2017 to 2018 by no later than Friday 26th January 2018. This will enable SCCL to finalise its cricket ball orders for the 2018 season at an early date & avoid any last minute problems.

Despite a price increase your feedback was very much in favour of continuing to use the Dukes County International cricket ball in the Premier, Division 1 & Division 1 2nd X1 so we will be using that ball in those divisions in 2018.

Following some negative feedback & an advised £2.10 per ball price increase for the 2018 season on the Oxbridge Blenheim ball we have successfully trialled the BAS Test cricket ball during the 2017 season & therefor we will be using that as our mid range ball during 2018 in Division 2 & Division 2 2nd X1.
However SCCL has no objection to any unused Oxbridge Blenheim balls being used in the 2018 season subject to the two balls used in one match being the same make (eg 1 x BAS Test & 1 x Oxbridge Blenheim being used in the same match is not acceptable).

On the basis of some negative feedback about the Dukes Bespoke ball & an expressed preference in paying more for a better quality ball we have successfully trialled the Oxbridge Magna ball during the 2017 season & therefore we will be using that ball during the 2018 season in our remaining lower divisions.
However SCCL has no objection to any unused Dukes Bespoke balls being used in the 2018 season subject to the two balls used in one match being the same make (eg 1 x Oxbridge Magna & 1 x Dukes Bespoke being used in the same match is not acceptable).

Accordingly please let me know the following information by 26/1/18:-
The No. of cricket balls, which have been supplied by SCCL, that you wish to carry forward from 2017 to 2018.

These will include the following:-

Dukes County International, which will be used in the Premier, Div 1 & Div 1 2nd X1 during the 2018 season.

Dukes Bespoke, which may be used in Div 3, 4, Sunday Div 1 & 2  & Div 3 2nd X1 during the 2018 season (see above).

Oxbridge Blenheim, which may be used in Div 2 & Div 2 2nd X1 during the 2018 season (see above).

SCCL will buy back surplus cricket balls where the club is unable to carry them forward, as they will be using a different ball in their division next season (& don't want to retain them for none SCCL matches).

However this carry forward/buy back offer is only available if I am notified of those requirement by 26/1/18. If I do not hear from you by 26/1/18 I will assume that you do not wish to take up this offer & therefore a full allocation of cricket balls will be ordered, supplied & recharged to your club for 2018.

As a result of your feedback on the Dukes Bespoke & Oxbridge Blenheim balls used in the 2016 & 2017 seasons we have decided to make the above changes for the 2018 season. However I would be very grateful for further feedback on the 2018 balls & please retain any problem balls so that I can return them to the suppliers as without returned balls it is impossible for us to keep the pressure on suppliers to maintain quality standards.

As SCCL will not be subsidising the cost of cricket balls to be supplied for the 2018 season the costs to be recharged to the clubs will be as follows:-

Dukes County International :- £20.95 (upper range ball)
BAS Test :- £11.75. (mid range ball)
Oxbridge Magna :- £10.50 (lower range ball)

The following clubs have advised that they are able to recover the vat on the cost of cricket balls & have therefore asked for vat invoices to be raised in the name of their club, which I will provide again for the 2018 season unless I hear to the contrary. However if any other clubs are now able to recover vat please let me know & I'll arrange for your club to receive a vat invoice for your cricket balls.

Bridgnorth, Condover, Knockin & Kinnerley, Madeley, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Quatt, Shrewsbury, St Georges,Wellington,Wheaton Aston & Wroxeter.

In addition Whitchurch CC & Beacon CC asked for vat invoices for their supply of cricket balls to be raised in favour of their sponsors in 2017 so I'd be grateful for confirmation (or otherwise) from those clubs as to whether they wish that arrangement to continue into 2018.

Annual Subscriptions for the 2018 Season.
As the annual subscriptions for the 2018 Season will remain at £50 per team I would be very grateful if you could ensure that your standing orders reflect the correct level for your club.
